INTRODUCTION

The social welfare department was established for the development and welfare of the three most vulnerable sections of society, viz., the women, the children and the handicapped.

The Main objectives of the Department:

  1. To ensure that all children below the age group of 6 are healthy through prevision of adequate food and nutrition supplement and proper immunisation.
  2. To ensure that pregnant and lactaing mothers receive adequate food and nutrition supplements and proper immunisation.
  3. To help those women in distress, especially the widows, the deserted wives and sestitutes to rehabilitate medically, economically, socially and educationally the handicapped people in the state.
  4. To assist voluntary organisations in their effers to help the weaker and vulnerable sections of the society and
  5. To make public aware to adopt the small norm and simultaneously curbing female infanticide practiced in certain areas of the state.

 

SCHEME DETAILS

The following schemes are implemnted at the District level and they are assisted by the field staff.

2.Objective of the Scheme

Promoting Family Planning Eradicating Female Infanticide and promoting the welfare of girl children in poor families and to raise the status of girl children.

Fixed Deposit Receipt for Rs.15,200/- for each girl child subject to maximum of two girl children
1.In case if the family have only one girl child Rs.22,200/- Fixed Deposit Receipt.

On completion of 20 years of age, the beneficiary can receive the matured amount

Family should have only two female children and no male issue. Mother should have undergone sterilisation within the age of 40 years.

2.Objective of the Scheme

To provide adequate nutrition to the children above 5 years of age studying in schools from Std 1 to 10 and thereby improve the health & nutrition status of the children and develop their mental & physical ability.

3.Eligibility Criteria To open a nutritious meal centre in schools, a minimum no. of 25 children is required.

2.Objective of the Scheme

To provide a family for abandoned/surrendered babies by biological parents.

3.The Agencies which are recognised to do Adoption

License has been issued to 15 adoption agencies who are to be contacted when one desires to adopt a child.

4.Beneficiary 1.An abandoned/surrendered child.
2.Childless couples.
3.A Single female/male with a desire to adopt.

a.Age.

1.With one of the couples less than 45 years if they want to adopt an infant of less than 1 year
2.Older couples will be entrusted with older children
3.The age of a single parent should be 30 years and above the difference between the child & the adoptive parent should be 21 years

c.Income limit Adequate income to bring up the child comfortably.
d.Other Criteria

1.Hindus can adopt under Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956
2.Non Hindu can take a Child under Guardian and Ward Act 1890.

6.Special Benefits to Government Employees

A Special Adoption adjustment leave facility is offered to Women employees of Central and State Government to a maximum admissible period of 1 year leave at her credit depending on the age of the child adopted.

To abolish caste and community feelings based on birth and wiping out the evils of untouchability by encouraging intercaste marriage.

a.Rs.10,000/- (Rs7,000/- as NSC and Rs.3,000/- as cheque) in case Forward Community marries BC/MBC.
b.Rs.20,000/-(Rs.10,000/- as NSC and Rs.10,000 as Cheque in case one of the sopuse belongs to SC/ST
