Indus Child labour Project is being implemented in Tiruvannamalai District from 2^nd Oct. 2004 onwards.  There are 32 Transitional Education Centres functioning in all the 18 Blocks. 1588 students (the age group of 9 to 13) have been enrolled in TECs and all sort of Teaching learning materials, Uniform and mid day meals are being provided. Frequent exposures and block level Exhibition have been organised to TEC Students.  Village level and Block level awareness campaigns have also been conduced on child labour issues.  Three Batches of Six months Vocational training (the age group of 14 to 17 child labours) have been conducted to 754 students through select 15 industrial training centres.  50 Percent of the post Trainees are already got job in various places.  Formation and Strengthening of SHGs among the child labour families and implementation of income generation programme activities have been started.  Under the chairmanship of the Collector, District Level Enforcement committee have been formed and Block wise raids have been conducted involving District level higher officers for elimination of child labour in the District.  Job melas have also been organised to get job for Post Trainees. 40 Lead schools have been identified to put the TEC Students in the mainstream education.
